Chindon with Kagero

August 19, 2008

I’ll be playing with the Japanese gypsy rock band KAGERO with my brand-new chindon tambourine attachment. You have to check these guys out…amazing songs and a super tight band with Kaz on acoustic guitar, JW on violin, and Rob on bass. Check out their website for all the venue details.

Saturday August 30 at 10pm. Vox Pop, 1022 Cortelyou Road, Brooklyn.
Wednesday Sept 3 at 7:30pm. Caffe Vivaldi, 32 Jones St.

Chindon with FACE Improv, 8/8, 7pm

August 9, 2008

Oops…one more gig. Filled in on the chindon for FACE Improv‘s first performance at the NYC Fringe Festival, at Clemente Soto Velez, Flamboyan Theater. It was fifty minutes of completely improvised theater and music! Cool stuff and it was a lot of fun. Plus got a chance to see and play with Ben Gallina (HFS), Red Wierenga, and Eli Asher, of Respect Sextet fame.

Back to work!

August 7, 2008

I can’t believe it’s August already. No more gigs scheduled for the summer and I can finally get back to the dissertation and my upcoming class. I’ll be teaching an undergraduate seminar on “Music and the Faust Legend” at Westminster and I need to start compiling CDs, MP3s and some decent articles. Back to work!
