June 8, 2011

The PSU Taiko Ensemble debuted for a semi-public performance at Lincoln Hall on Monday 6/6 at 6pm. The group performed Renshuu in two versions and Matsuri Daiko. The first piece was based on an arrangement by Sensei Seiichi Tanaka and the second piece was based on arrangements by Sensei Seiichi Tanaka, Oedo Sukeroku Daiko, and the New York taiko group Soh Daiko.

We had a great crowd of friends and family, and we’re hoping to keep the momentum going for next year!

The Dragon and Lion Dance Team participated in the 2011 Rose Festival Starlight Parade on Saturday June 4. The weather was beautiful and it was a lot of fun walking through downtown Portland to the SW area. Here’s a quick clip.

The group won first place in the Best Marching Entry!
